If not, you can get it for free by clicking here. 3. Any word processing program, such as Wordpad, MS Word, or WordPerfect. You certainly have this; it is the program that you write letters with. Wordpad comes with every Windows computer. 4. Your Internet browser. Obvioiusly, you have this too, because it is how you were able to read the Dog Bite Law website. Then open My Computer if you are on a PC. I will say that again: My Computer. Not your word processing program, not Adobe Acrobat. If you are on a Mac, you will be opening the program the usual way. Use My Computer to find the folder called "What To Do." Open that folder. Inside it, click on "What To Do If Your Dog Is Injured Or Killed.htm." Remember, there is a difference between the file that you first get, which is a ZIP file, and the file that opens the book when you want to read it, which is an HTM file. You use the ZIP file to set up the book on your computer, and you use the HTM file to read the book. If your dog was injured in a dog-vs.-dog incident, the you should start by using the Liability Wizard. For any other case, do not use the Liability Wizard. Read the text, which is Part 1 of the book. Then click on "OK" when you get the message, "Extraction completed." 8. You will see the files on your Desktop (or in the folder that you put the download into in Step 4, above.) 9. Open the .rtf files if you are using any word processing program except WordPerfect. If you use WordPerfect and there is a .wpd file for the document that you want, then use that .wpd file; otherwise, use the .rtf file. Downloading Dog Bite Litigation Forms to a MacYou have two choices. The best one is the self-help way because it will introduce you to ZipIt, a Mac product that will enable you to open all files that are created and zipped on PCs. You will find that ZipIt helps you work with attorneys who work on PCs. These instructions, and your free download of ZipIt, may prove invaluable to your office. Here is the self-help way: 1. If you already have downloaded, skip to Step 5. If you have not downloaded yet, follow the easy directions in Steps 2 through 5. 2. Click the link that you received in the E-mail confirmation that the Bookstore sent you. 4. At the bottom of the page on the left side you will see your product name and the words "DOWNLOAD LINK". After the unzipping of the file, close all open programs, and double-click on the form that you need. You will see all of them. Instructions for the Dog Bite Litigation FormsThese instructions apply to both PC and Mac. For each topic, you will see two files (except for the deposition outline). Use DOC files with Word, WPD files with WordPerfect, and RTF files with both Word and WordPerfect. The merge files can only be used by WordPerfect. They are identified by the word "merge," and their extensions are .frm and .dat. Windows puts a Windows Media icon on the .dat files. To open the .dat file and insert your data, you should open WordPerfect first, and use WordPerfect to open the file. Ignore all warnings that tell you that these files are Windows System files because obviously they are no such thing. The forms come with START HERE files. You MUST READ THESE FILES!!! They contain not only instructions but also advice about what traps and pitfalls to avoid, and what kinds of provisions you need to look for in things like a structured settlement agreement. Upon the forms themselves, you will find some tips for getting the most out of them. Troubleshooting All ProductsI downloaded just one file, but I don't know what to do next
