Overview of the Dog Bite Problem in California

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) gave an estimate for dog bites. In 2011, they reported over 50,000 animal bites in California. Domestic dogs caused 77% of these bites.

Emergency department visits for dog bites went up. In 2010, there were 35,020 visits. By 2015, there were 38,657 visits.

These numbers are over ten years old. We don’t know if they still show how many people get bitten by dogs in California now.
