Dangerous Dogs: A Growing Problem

Dangerous dogs are a serious issue in the U.S. and many other countries. Every year, more people are bitten or killed by dogs. Yet, over 99% of dog bite victims receive no compensation because, among other things, society refuses to balance dog ownership with the harm that dogs cause.

One reasonable solution would be to require dog owners to insure their dogs, just like they insure their cars. However, this could lead to fewer people owning dogs, and even fewer folks admitting they own dogs, increasing euthanasia rates and the number of stray dogs. The problem is complex, but ignoring solutions leaves victims to suffer both financial burdens and physical and emotional pain.
